About Us

Heighington Christmas market has been running as a local event to raise money for charity for many years. This enables the promotion of local craftspeople, businesses and the Community.

Our traditional street market is run by a small committee of volunteers, ably assisted by ‘friends’ – people who give their time to help on the day. The market could not run without the backing of the local community, who are not only patient and accommodating with the hustle and bustle on the day, (and also help with donating our electricity for the stalls in some cases!) but also provide a lovely, welcoming community feel to the occasion.

The market has grown over the years and now boasts an excellent reputation with over 100 stalls offering food, gifts and other crafts for Christmas. Alongside this we have a fair with rides, Santa and more; we also have live music and a great selection of street food. Planning starts in January and continues right up to the day.   while the committee might be focused on festivities many months in advance, we are always looking for more ‘friends’ to assist on the date itself, and would love to hear from you if you are interested.

The market is a not for profit organisation and is fully self financing. It is our aim to benefit the local community as much as possible;  we support local charities – in the past these have included Smile, Air Ambulance and Shine. we also support charities within the market e g Lives, Freemen, Cannada and Sunflowers. Our local businesses also benefit from the market along with the stall holders (many of whom are local crafts people with small businesses), and of course we offer both local residents and visitors a great day out!

Please take a look around our site to find out more information on this year’s market, and keep up to date with all our news and updates on our Facebook page. Hope you can join us at the market!
